Consorzio Cooperative Costruzioni - CCC was established in 1912 as: Consorzio fra le cooperative di birocciai, carrettieri ed affini della provincia di Bologna (Consortium of Cooperatives of Carters, Wagoners and Kindred Laborers of the Province of Bologna).
It changed its name in 1946 and eventually took on its present name in 1979, after its unification with two consortium of cooperatives already operating in Modena and Ferrara.
In 1998 CCC merged Acam, a national consortium established in 1960 for the procurement of construction products and services, at the date of merging the biggest domestic buyer of steel for reinforced concrete, ceramics, concrete, elevators, building equipment and steel pipes.
In the second half of 2007, it improved its governance by conforming its statute, as a consortium of producers and workers' cooperatives, to Legislative Decree 14th December 1947 n. 1577, so becoming a joint-stock cooperative company under the name "CONSORZIO COOPERATIVE COSTRUZIONI - CCC società cooperativa" and adopting the dualistic system of administration and control, pursuant to articles 2049-octies of the Italian Civil Code.
In the first decades following its creation, CCC built a large part of the new roadways in the province of Bologna and the Direttissima railway of the Brennero and reclaimed the marshlands bordering the Idice, Reno and Po rivers.
More recently, CCC played a major role in post war reconstruction and subsequently in the construction of regional and national infrastructures: it built bridges, canals, hospitals, railways and low-cost community housing developments in the most important metropolitan areas.
In the last few years, Consorzio Cooperative Costruzioni has further consolidated its activities nationwide through the execution of large-scale projects.
